Abbey Oblate Day of Recollection Recap

Tara Bonner of Hazelhurst, MS, made her oblation as an Oblate of Saint Joseph Abbey during the Day of Recollection on July 13.

About 60 people attended the Saint Joseph Abbey Oblate Day of Recollection on July 13, including oblates, oblate novices, and those interested in learning more about the oblate program.

Tara Bonner of Hazelhurst, MS, made her oblation during the event and became an oblate of Saint Joseph Abbey. Laura Block, Christine Cominos of Folsom and David Assaf of Covington became oblate novices.

Fr. Jude Israel, O.S.B., gave the two conferences on the Seven Deadly Sins, depicted by Dom Gregory DeWitt, with the demons circling the Abbey Church dome, and the coinciding virtues that help us fight our temptations.

Oblate Retreat

It was also announced during the event that Saint Joseph Abbey will host an Oblates Retreat Sept. 17-19, 2024, at the Abbey Retreat Center. This retreat is for Oblates, Oblate Novices, and anyone interested in the Oblate program. Space is limited. Cost is $316.70 per person. Click here for more information and to register.
