Is God calling you to the monastic life? Are you discerning a religious vocation and wondering if you might be called to be a monk, specifically a Benedictine monk at Saint Joseph Abbey?
Saint Joseph Abbey is hosting a Monastic Discernment Immersion Dec. 18-22, and if you are a Catholic male between the ages of 18-45 who is discerning a call to the monastic life, please consider joining us!
Those attending will be able to arrive at the Abbey beginning at 10 a.m. All should arrive no later than 4 p.m. Thursday; retreat activities will end following lunch on Sunday. (PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL PLANS PRIOR TO SPEAKING WITH BR. AUSTIN SIMON ABOUT ATTENDING.)
During this vocation retreat you will get to:
Pray the Divine Office and attend Mass with the monks.
Attend conferences on aspects of monastic life.
Assist the monks in the different Abbey workshops and complete monastic work projects.
Spend time in personal prayer.
Explore the monastery grounds, hike the Abbey woods, and enjoy the Bogue Falaya River.
Spend time getting to know the monastic community.
