Bringing an old design into a new context, these Abbey Gift Shop T-shirts feature six woodcut-like graphic icons from Dom Gregory de Wit, the muralist of our Abbey Church and Refectory.

Originally, de Wit created these images in the 1950s to adorn the long curtains of the windows in the monk's refectory. A few years ago, the curtains were updated by Fr. Ambrose, using monk cloth for the curtain fabric and hand-cut felt for the designs. Br. Simon took photos of the previous curtains and created digital versions of them to use in our communications and public relations. From there they found their way onto a T-shirt and into the Abbey Gift Shop. They are printed in a rich green and wine on a heather grey T-shirt.
