VIVITE, VIANNEY! LIVE, VIANNEY!
Grounded in tradition. Renovating for the future. Forming the new Sons of Saint Ben's.
BLESSED WITH VOCATIONS
For more than 120 years, the monks of Saint Joseph Abbey have operated Saint Joseph Seminary College, serving dioceses from Atlanta, Georgia to Corpus Christi, Texas. The seminary is an undergraduate institution, what used to be called a "minor seminary," and prepares young men for graduate work at "major seminaries" where they complete their education and formation.
To better serve the church, Saint Joseph Seminary completed a Strategic Plan in September 2011 that aimed to increase and sustain student enrollment and improve physical facilities. The plan has already begun to bear fruit. The 2011-12 academic year concluded with 80 seminarians, the largest enrollment in 25 years. This August we welcomed 110 seminarians, surpassing even our most optimistic projections of 90 for the fall 2012 semester.
WE ALL SECURE THE FUTURE OF OUR CHURCH
The formation of future priests is the main apostolate of Saint Joseph Abbey, but we are all responsible for the future of our Church. Truly, our success depends on your generosity. We invite you to share in the formation of our future priests by setting up a monthly donation, and committing to it for five years. Making a substantial gift is surprisingly affordable when it's spread out over 60 months. Take a look at the payment schedule:TOTAL GIFT

As the renovation of Vianney Hall proceeds, Saint Joseph Seminary College plans to recognize significant donations with door plaques. Not only do we wish to express our gratitude for your generosity, we also consider these plaques to be a witness to your faith for seminarians and an inspiration for potential supporters. We invite you to consider a Recognition Opportunity for yourself, your family, your business, a loved one, or God's graces. We have five opportunities available for furnishing, sponsoring and naming rooms. Pledges may be paid over five years. Click here for more information.
VIANNEY FUND DRIVE TOPS $2M | PREPARATORY WORK UNDERWAY
Thanks to several initiatives stemming from the Strategic Plan, we expect enrollment to remain stable at more than 100 seminarians, creating a long-term housing shortage. The $3.4 million renovation of Vianney Hall is the first and most urgent project of a multi-phase, multi-million-dollar Master Plan for physical facilities. To date, donors have committed $2.4 million to the project.
Vianney Hall will be renovated to create 20 rooms on the first floor and 23 on the second floor. As we await its completion, overflow seminarians are being housed in monastery guest rooms and a temporary modular building.
So far, Vianney Hall has been gutted, and asbestos abatement is complete. To keep the project on schedule, Fr. Gregory Boquet and Abbot Justin are working hard to raise the remaining funds so that construction can continue on schedule. The monks hope to have the building ready for occupancy in time for the fall 2013 semester.
Architect Steve Rome envisions "an environment that is solemn and calming, with a design that makes best use of every square foot." Amenities will include glassed-in study areas, places to visit with friends, a kitchenette and laundry.
