You may ask, "What is a league retreat?" A league retreat is an Abbey-sponsored program for people who come to renew themselves in the Spirit and spend quiet, silent time in prayer and meditation. The schedule includes conferences presented by monks of Saint Joseph Abbey, liturgies, reconciliation and time for silence and renewal.
All league retreats share an annual theme for introspection and prayer. The theme this year is "The Benedictine Rule." Whatever your spiritual search, these prayerful themes will help nurture and guide you. During a league retreat, silence is observed in and around the CLC from the evening of the first day until lunch on the last day.
League retreats begin with arrival at 4 PM on the first day and end after lunch on the third day. All meals are specially prepared in our kitchen and all linens are provided. All parts of the retreat - guest rooms, chapel, library and dining room - are in one building. There are 42 individual rooms each with a private bath. For married couples the adjoining door between the rooms can be opened. You are free to walk the beautiful grounds of Saint Joseph Abbey at leisure, and you are welcome to join the monks in prayer in the Abbey Church.
The suggested free-will offering for league retreats is $160 per person. This includes a nonrefundable deposit of $25 per person to confirm a reservation.
